Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh visited the Magh Mela in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, and extended his full support to Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati.

Speaking to the media on Friday at the Magh Mela after meeting Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati, Sanjay Singh said that the greatest misfortune is that the Shankaracharya is being asked to prove his identity. He added that those who have not been able to show their own degrees are demanding proof from the Shankaracharya.

The AAP Rajya Sabha member said this grave injustice occurred on the sacred land of Prayagraj, holding the dictatorial government and administration of Uttar Pradesh responsible.

Singh questioned whether a Prime Minister, Chief Minister, police commissioner, or revenue officer has the authority to decide who is a Shankaracharya.

He demanded that UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath apologize for the incident and ensure that the Shankaracharya is allowed to take his holy dip.

Singh further stated that if this movement spreads from Prayagraj to Delhi, the issue will be raised in Parliament, if necessary.
